Annie by The St. Albert Children’s Theatre

Annie is a heartwarming family musical set in 1930s New York City, following the adventures of a spirited young orphan determined to find her parents. Living under the care of the cruel Miss Hannigan, Annie’s life changes when she’s chosen to spend Christmas with billionaire Oliver Warbucks. As Warbucks grows fond of Annie, he offers to help find her family, but their search is threatened by Miss Hannigan’s devious schemes.   

With unforgettable songs like “Tomorrow” and “It’s the Hard Knock Life,” Annie delivers a timeless message of hope, love and resilience that continues to charm audiences of all ages.  

Based on the popular comic strip by Harold Gray, Annie has become a worldwide phenomenon and was the winner of seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The beloved book and score by Tony Award winners, Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, features some of the greatest musical theatre hits ever written.

DETAILS

• This event is only open to ROOTS families.  

• Recommended Ages: 6+ (The younger audiences may find it difficult to sit through the entire performance, as the length of the show is approximately 2 hours, with a quick 15-minute intermission. This performance will be similar, if not the same, to the movie when it comes to anything they may find inappropriate. Poverty and abandonment are a heavy presence in this show. Drinking is also possibly portrayed. It is recommended that parents watch the movie to see how they feel.  However, it is a family show, so anything depicted will be very mild.)

• Are younger (non-participating) siblings welcome? YES - please use your own judgment if your child can sit through the performance. Babes-in-Arms (under 2 years) do not require a paid ticket.

• Should guests bring lunch? YES - Families can eat inside the lobby of the Arden Theatre or in the lobby of St. Albert Place. Please note that you may not hear the warning bell from the St. Albert Place lobby. Eating is NOT allowed inside the theatre.   

• Any specific dress/attire required? No, but this is a theatre, so dress-wear is encouraged. Additionally, since it will be winter, it is recommended to dress in layers. 

• Arrival Time: 10:45 am

• Registration deadline date: November 23, 2025 at 11:59 pm

• Refund Policy: No refunds, unless you can find someone else to transfer your tickets to. Please note that the Roots Office must be notified in advance. 

PARENTS' HOUSEKEEPING

1. We need your assistance in ensuring that you and your children arrive on time. Please ensure you arrive no later than 10:45 am.

2. Parents are required to purchase a ticket to the performance. Parents are responsible for transporting and supervising their children at all times during the performance. If your child is attending with another family/adult, a letter with the parent signature, stating who is responsible for your child in your absence (an adult staying on site), must be given to the event organizer.

3. There are no refunds unless you can find someone else to transfer your tickets to. Please note that the Roots Office must be notified in advance. 

4. It is recommended that each child brings a labelled water bottle, water fountains are not always available.

Students: Roots reserves the right to make final decisions regarding the acceptance of any student into the program. Students who do not demonstrate an attitude of cooperation and willingness to respect the rights and property of others will be dismissed after two warnings are issued. There will be no refund.

WAIVER

On behalf of my child, I/we hereby waive and release the Roots Christian Home Education Fellowship, The Father’s House Christian School and any Roots volunteer/facilitator/administrative staff of the Roots Christian Home Education Fellowship from any liability to my(our) children. I/We are fully aware of the risks and potential for harm involved in such events, and on behalf of our child, release from liability Roots Christian Home Education Fellowship (Roots), The Father’s House Christian School and waive any claims such minor may have as a result of an accident, mishap or negligence of the Released Party and/or and other party under or affiliated with the Released Party.

I acknowledge that I, the parent/guardian of the registered attendee/s agree to stay on site at the venue of the program, and if space allows in the classroom to oversee my child/ren for the duration of the program.  Should I not be able to stay at the venue with my child/ren, a handwritten note with my signature will be sent with my child and given to the program organizer, stating the adult who is staying on site and has agreed to be responsible for my child/ren for the duration of the program.
