In Roots we are continually looking for ways for families to gather and
participate as a community. We create the opportunities for
families to build friendships.
Below is a sample of our yearly schedule.

This weekly program offers an assortment of physical activities taught by certified instructors. Programming runs from mid September to May.

Each special event in Roots is designed to bring families together while offering ample opportunities to establish relationships and have fun!  Events that have been run in the past include; used curriculum sale, Christmas market, Science fair,
high school mini conference, year end party, Christian worldview
conference & fine arts week.

Roots parent volunteers organize a variety of fieldtrips throughout the school year. Story Book Theatre productions, Telus Spark, wilderness survival workshops, drama workshops, National Geographic Live, Jubilee Auditorium tour are just a few past trips. There is an average of 2 fieldtrips each month from September to May.

This is distributed electronically once a month from October to May. Parent contributions are welcome. The Roots newsletter could include articles, a monthly calendar, information on coming events & devotionals.

Through this private group, Google Talk enables Roots parents and staff to share ideas and ask questions pertaining to home education. Posts share or look for curriculum, ask for suggestions in specific areas, request prayer, share
interesting articles someone has read, and post questions regarding
related matters such as discipline, fieldtrips and scheduling.

Roots has a digital library for Calgary area families to access books, audio & visuals. Items can be picked up at the monthly support group meetings or arranged with our librarian. Books in our library pass the criteria of being Christian
content, items not normally found in the public libraries and are living books.
Access to the Roots library is limited to Roots families.
