Calgary Chinooks Basketball –Homeschool program

Weekly on Thursdays October 23 - December 11, 2025

Calgary Chinooks  lead coaches are NCCP (National Coaching Certification Program) certified which follows the Canada Basketball guidelines for safe sports training and coaching in Alberta. All of their basketball coaches either played at their High school, college/university, local leagues and international leagues. They carry these experiences and showcase them during training every day.  They are experienced coaches who are knowledgeable teaching basics and fundamentals to highly technical and competitive learnings.

All coaches are experienced in both camp and competitive team settings. Their coaches genuinely love the sport of basketball and it shows during training. They bring the energy, provide a safe environment and they emphasize the FUN in the FUNdamentals of basketball.

Calgary Chinooks Basketball programs set them apart from other clubs in that they offer high quality basketball skill development, character building (on and off the court), and a focused hands-on approach to player well - being and progress. It will be a combination of individual skill development, team dynamics, fun games and scrimmages.

The goal is to have 5-7 players per coach

 Please note there are different start times for different ages.

DETAILS

• This event is only open to ROOTS families.  Two weeks prior to the registration deadline non-Roots families can register if tickets are still available.

• Recommended Ages:

  Kids ages 5-10: 3-3:50pm

  Ages 11+ : 3:55-5pm

• Registration deadline date:

   Open to Roots until September 26

  Open to public September 27-October 9

  (registration closes at 10am on October 9th)

• Should guests bring lunch?

  No

• Any specific dress/attire required?

Comfortable sportswear (shorts, shirt, rubber shoes, labelled water bottle) 

      Basketballs if you have it ( or else we can provide for the day)

                         size 6 basketball (5-11 years old)

                         size 7 basketball (12-15 years old)

• Are younger (non-participating) siblings welcome?

  Anyone can stay and watch. There are chairs on the stage.

  No refunds past registration deadline of October 9, 2025 at 10am

PAYMENT: To use your family funding for your registered Roots students, please use the code CHINOOK2025 at checkout. Please create separate orders for non-Roots students.

PARENTS' HOUSEKEEPING

1. We need your assistance in ensuring that your children are at class on time and picked up at the end of each session on time. This allows the classes to start in a timely manner.

2. Parents are responsible for transporting and supervising their children at all times while the child is not in class.

3. Parents are responsible to stay on site at the venue during class time in case of an emergency.  Should you not be able to stay, a letter with the parent signature, stating who is responsible for your child in your absence (an adult staying on site), must be given to the event organizer.

4. There are no refunds past the registration deadline unless a class must be cancelled due to lack of student enrolment.

5. Each child needs to bring a labelled water bottle, water fountains are not always available.

Students: Roots reserves the right to make final decisions regarding the acceptance of any student into the program. Students who do not demonstrate an attitude of cooperation and willingness to respect the rights and property of others will be dismissed after two warnings are issued. There will be no refund.

GYM WAIVER

On behalf of my child, I/we hereby waive and release the Roots Christian Home Education Fellowship, The Father’s House Christian School and any Roots volunteer/facilitator/administrative staff of the Roots Christian Home Education Fellowship from any liability to my(our) children. I/We are fully aware of the risks and potential for harm involved in such events, and on behalf of our child, release from liability Roots Christian Home Education Fellowship (Roots), The Father’s House Christian School and waive any claims such minor may have as a result of an accident, mishap or negligence of the Released Party and/or and other party under or affiliated with the Released Party.

I acknowledge that I, the parent/guardian of the registered attendee/s agree to stay on site at the venue of the program to oversee my child/ren for the duration of the program.  Should I not be able to stay at the venue with my child/ren, a handwritten note with my signature will be sent with my child and given to the program organizer, stating the adult who is staying on site and has agreed to be responsible for my child/ren for the duration of the program.
