About the Event
Join us for a day of exploring one of Alberta's most dramatic historical sites! On April 29, 1903, over 82 million tonnes of limestone thundered down Turtle Mountain in just 100 seconds, burying part of the town of Frank — one of the deadliest rockslides in Canadian history. Families will walk through the interpretive centre, learn survival stories from the disaster, and explore the remnants of an early 1900s coal mining operation next door at Leitch Collieries.
This is a wonderful opportunity for hands-on, real-world learning about Alberta history, geology, and the resilience of the people who lived through this event.
