About the Event

Come Dance With Fire! Come Create With Glass

Join Hayden MacRae and his team for a trip back in time. Step into fascapple glass studio where molten glass flows like honey and you can experience this ancient art.

  • Learn a bit about the tools and equipment and some of the history of glass blowing.
  • Hear the multi-step process of creating a piece with a material that has a life of its own. Get a sense of the individual and teamwork involved in glassblowing.  You may be surprised by the mental and physical demands!
  • Hear how sciences like physics and chemistry combine with creativity in this art form.
  • Have a hands-on experience. With the assistance of a professional glassblower, bring your paperweight to life! Once completed, it will be put in the annealer (aka a kiln) to cool.
  • Our two instructors will share their knowledge and skills.  While a few students are experiencing working with hot glass, the others will be watching a demonstration and learning. Then, we’ll switch groups so everyone experiences both learning opportunities.

Registration Deadline is Monday, November 14, 2022.
