About the Event

Ironman Blacksmithing, owned by Stephen and Brenda Woodall , has been providing the services of a traditional blacksmith to the people and businesses of central Alberta for over 30 years.  Over the last 3 years, they have been hosting blacksmithing workshops at their location near Linden, AB. These workshops have been introducing blacksmithing to participants ages 12 - 70 , many of whom have come back again to continue building their skill set.

In this workshop, after a brief introduction and safety talk, we will start by making an steak /meat flipper

for the kitchen or BBQ.

This project will teach a variety of basic blacksmithing skills such as how to round, twist, bend, flare, upset and elongate while working with a medium length and weight of steel.

There is a wide range of personal choice and creativity encouraged in this project so no 2 projects will look alike.

After lunch for those who have finished their steak flipper we will be making keychains.

There will be an assortment of samples to choose from for your design.

This project will teach refinement and the use of tongs for handling small pieces of steel.

Ironman Blacksmithing is partnering with Roots to offer students the opportunity to learn foundational skills of blacksmithing through a series of workshops throughout the school year.

The purpose of these classes is to equip students to learn more intricate work and have a deeper knowledge of the blacksmithing skills as they work through each level of workshop.

We look forward to spending some fun and creative time with you at the forge !
