About the Event
Ironman Blacksmithing, owned by Stephen and Brenda Woodall , has been providing the services of a traditional blacksmith to the people and businesses of central Alberta for over 30 years. Over the last 3 years, they have been hosting blacksmithing workshops at their location near Linden, AB. These workshops have been introducing blacksmithing to participants ages 12 - 70 , many of whom have come back again to continue building their skill set.
In this workshop, after a brief introduction and safety talk, we will start by making a horseshoe knife with a horse head handle.
This project will teach the foundation skills of straightening, drawing out, punching, splitting, upsetting and beveling while refining the skill of using tongs to work with short pieces.
After lunch for those who have finished their knife we will be making leaf coat- hooks.
There will be an assortment of samples to choose from…
