About the Event
Calgary Shalom Krav Maga teaches Israeli self-defense techniques while encouraging the students to remain peacemakers. The head instructor Christopher , is very passionate about and committed to educating his students and giving glory to Jesus in class and in life.
4 Weeks of Lessons Wednesdays, January 4, 11, 18 & 25
Each lesson is 1.5 hours long.
All Ages 5-16: 10:30am-noon
At least two parents per age group are required for instructor assistance.
The minimum requirement of students to run a program is 8.
- Class Outline
Each Krav Maga class will begin with a brief prayer
Followed by a 2 minute cardio warmup and 4 minute stretch
Afterwards there will be 5 to 8 minutes of Krav Maga Circuits {Circuits are 30 seconds of Krav Maga exercises with 15 second rests between, and 1 minute rest between sets}
Next is a 2 to 5 minute study on a Bible verse, with encouragement and a practical lesson for the kids
Then the curriculum will be one Combative Strike {Kicking, or Palm Strikes for example}
Followed by one Self-Defence Technique {Defence against a punch or headlock for example}
We finish the lesson with a fun and purposeful game for the kids
- Things to note:
- Recommended Ages: Ages 5+
- Registration deadlien date: November 29th midnight

- - Open to all homeschool families
- - Students are to wear T-shirt and sweatpants, bring a towel to dry off & a labelled water bottle
- - Arrive for class at least 5 minutes early so classes can start on time. NOTE: classes are split based on age of children so be aware of your child's start time.
- - Refunds will not be given past the registration deadline date November 29th at midnight
- If you have students in different age groups, you may want to bring lunch to eat in your vehicle between class start times.
Parent Housekeeping:
1) We need your assistance in ensuring that your children are at class on time and picked up at the end of each session on time. This allows the classes to start in a timely manner.
2) Parents are responsible for transporting and supervising their children at all times while the child is not in class.
- 3) Parents are responsible to stay in the class during class time to oversee thier childrens behavior. Any child being unsafe toward themselves or other children, are to be escorted by their parents to have a time out.
- 4) If a child is being disruptive to the lesson, they will be warned once; if they continue to be disruptive, parents are required to pull them from that lesson so their little one can have a time out. Once they calm down, they can resume their training.
- 5) At least two parents are required to help with holding training pads/shields, and for extra eyes to make sure kids are training safely at all times. Volunteering for this can be done at time of registration.
6) There are no refunds past the registration deadline unless a class must be canceled due to lack of student enrollment.
Students:
Roots reserves the right to make final decisions regarding the acceptance of any student into the program. Students who do not demonstrate an attitude of cooperation and willingness to respect the rights and property of others will be dismissed after two warnings are issued. There will be no refund.
Waiver:
By registering for the Roots Gym program or other activity that requires physical exertion, I understand that TFH society and its branches Roots Home Education/The Father’s House Christian School, at all organizational levels, will not be held responsible for accidents, injury, loss or damage to an individual or any individual’s property. I agree the applicant/s are in good health and able to participate in the physical activity of this program. In the event the applicant is injured, I give permission for a staff member or parent volunteer to seek medical attention.
I acknowledge that I, the parent/guardian of the registered attendee/s agree to stay on site at the venue of the program, and if space allows in the classroom to oversee my child/ren for the duration of the program. Should I not be able to stay at the venue with my child/ren, a handwritten note with my signature will be sent with my child and given to the program organizer, stating the adult who is staying on site and has agreed to be responsible for my child/ren for the duration of the program.
