About the Event
Under the technical direction of Cat Fox, former English National player turned world-class youth coach, New Frontier strives to offer the highest level of soccer training to Calgary’s youth athletes. Training sessions are carefully designed to nurture confident, skillful and game-smart players from the earliest stages through developmentally appropriate and technically sound activities. Handpicked to implement a coherent training plan for all players, professional coaching staff coordinate and deliver all sessions, at every level of the program. Every student athlete will be coached by one, or a combination of coaches from New Frontier’s certified team. Coaching staff have former playing pedigrees at the International, professional, semi-professional and collegiate level and are committed to pursuing the highest level of coach education that Canada Soccer and CONCACAF currently offer. New Frontier is excited to offer the following player-centered programming to the homeschool community:
Storybook Soccer (4-6 year old athletes): Through the magic of storytelling, movement and play, children
begin to experience the joy of soccer and being active. Using the latest research on the benefits of play-based learning, we have designed curricula to ignite the imagination of the youngest children in our programs. This is a 60 minute course.
Active Start! (7-9 year old athletes): Players begin developing technical soccer skills through coach Cat’s evidence-based Ball, Brain and Body skills program. The focus of this program is technical skill, soccer knowledge and physical movement. This is a 75 minute course.
FUNdamentals (10-12 year old athletes): Players learn the basic principles of play with a focus on small group tactics in a fun and challenging environment. Players are encouraged to apply their skills and athletic abilities to solve on-field “soccer problems” and challenges. Players learn to work as a unit in game scenarios. This is a 75 minute course.
Core (12+ year old athletes): Players learn and refine their technical soccer skills in a fun and competitive environment. Individual technical development will focus on 1 vs 1 domination, receiving and finishing. Team play will focus on small-group tactics and working as a unit both offensively and defensively. This is a 90 minute course.
