About the Event
11am-1pm, Ages 5 and upClass #1: Beginners Basic Survival Skills
Join Kaykima Wilderness Skills in Fish Creek park for a workshop in Survival Skills. Participants will get into nature and learn Wilderness Safety Skills such as: what to do if you get lost in the woods, safety around animals, and the importance of positive thinking. The class will move on to Survival Shelters where they will learn about different types of shelters based on environment before getting their hands dirty to construct one of their own. We will end with primitive fire making and discussion on the importance of fire within a wilderness survival context. The workshop is great for children, youth and their caregivers and is a unique opportunity to work together in a challenging and safe natural environment.
